Recently a well know Canadian media published an article mentioning the countries where Quebec
residents preferred, or would like to visit during their vacations.  Panama is in that list as a favorite
destination, together with Cancun, Disney World, Argentina, Cuba, and Hawaii among others.

Another characteristic that Panama and some others on the list offer those polled are their unique
scenery and unmatched and rich culture. Furthermore, Panama is still viewed as a country with a stable
economy where investments are secure.  Now it is Standard and Poor´s turn to speak about Panama´s
grade of investment versus its debt, based on the growth of its economy.

This opinion is based on the fact that the international financial community sees with a good eye the
fiscal reforms set forth by Panama´s government, the diversification of the economy and its growth, and
the driving force provided by the expansion of the Panama Canal.           June 2010

Stargazing in Coclé
The very first astronomic observatory in Panama is opening this weekend in Coclé. It is located near the
Coclé branch campus of the Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá in Penonomé, in a dry area called
Llano Marín. It is the perfect place to gaze at the stars, says Professor Hector Acollado, as there is very
little rain and lots of clarity at this central point in the country.

Students are celebrating this landmark event with a camping weekend at the observatory called “Noches
de Luna, Tardes de Sol” through Sunday, May 1. The event, which features workshops, bonfires, walks
and competitions is open to all. Tents are for rent at the site but staying overnight is not a requirement
to stop by. There will be 12 telescopes available for visitors in addition to a chance to look through the
telescope that has just arrived in the country.                                              April  2011
